Showcase Football event Aims to Heat up the Desert
The buzz around Showcase Football has grown louder and louder over it’s first couple events in SoCal and NorCal last November with Most Outstanding Performer showings by the nation’s #1 2023 PP-QB and DT-QB, Malachi Nelson and Jaden Rashada, respectively. Showcase makes it’s way out of State for the first time but all signs point to a big time event with some top young prospects in the region. The hoopla hit a big uptick stemming from the inaugural Quarterback Challenge that took place on Saturday in Maricopa. Showcase Football is set to heat of the desert on Sunday with their trade mark energy, intensity and enthusiasm.
Starting with the quarterbacks, ‘23 San Juan Capistrano (CA) JSerra signal caller Jaxon Potter came out of Saturday as the top propsect. The 6’4 righty generates good velocity from the ground and shows a really fluid stroke that had scouts, media and parents whispering the name —— Tom Brady. Local product out of Mountain Pointe Chris Arviso was the surprise performer of the day. He showed good accuracy and mobility oujtside the pocket. 2024 Queen Creek (AZ ) Basha 2024 dynamo Demond Williams dazzeld with his arm and his legs, while a pair of 2025s put everyone on notice that they’re coming to take names in Kalen Fisher and JP Mialovski.
The running backs will be spearheded by ‘23 stud Carson Green from San Antonio (TX) Reagan who ran for almost 1500 yards this past season. He showed up as one of the better pass catchers on Saturday and quickly separated himself with his speed and quickness.
The Linebackers will be lead by another Texan as Jack Johnson from The Woodlands prepares to bring his physical style to the west coast and show he can be an athlete by playing in space.
The offensive line will be lead by ‘22 Monument (CO) Palmer Ridge tackle Alec Faulk. At 6’5 275 Faulk has th ideal frame and athletic traits to really boost his stock this weekend. A young gun to keep an eye on is St. Peter’s (MO) Lutheran St. Charles 2024 Talan Chandler. He has the quick feet and strog punch college recruiters love.
The top prospect on the defensive line is from nearby Tucson (AZ) Salpointe Catholic Elijah Rushing. Standing 6’5 210, Rushing projects as a National recruit with all the tools to be a special player down the road.
The wideouts and defensive backs are the loaded group at Sunday’s Showcase Football event. Players from 7 different state’s are coming to prove they belong with the top prospects in the Country. Underclassmen names we expect to have big days are Ricky Gonzalez from San Antonio (TX) Antonian and 2024 cornerback Josiah Wash Rancho Cucamonga (CA) Etiwanda.
