Inaugural Quarterback Challenge Debuts in Arizona

The inaugural Quarterback Challenge powered by Showcase Football makes it’s heavily anticipated debut in Maricopa, Arizona Saturday February 27th at Pacana park. The event was created and designed by Showcase Football director and the Nation’s top evaluator, Keith Miller to get a more intimate look at high school quarterbacks across the country with intentions to aid development and advocate for their recruitment. Miller has comeout blazing by bringing on highly respected QB guru Vince Passas who’s had enormous success tutoring Heisman winner and #2 overall pick in 2015 draft Marcus Mariota and Heisman Finalist and 5th overall NFL draft choice Tua Tagovailoa.

The state of Arizona has quietly become a hot bed for top quarterbacks with some of the Nation’s best playing at a high level in Power 5 conferences such as Oklahoma’s Spencer Rattler and Iowa State’s Brock Purdy. Saturday’s QB Challenge will have heat coming through the desert to compete in various drills and a personalized “Pro Day”. Leading the crop of talented Quarterbacks is 6’0 freshmen Demond Williams Chandler (AZ) Basha. The 2024 dual-threat has 6 total offers with his last three coming from Power 5 schools Arizona, Colorado and most recently Iowa State. Local products Dylan Dreis from Tucson (AZ) Salpointe Catholic and Cael Stewart from St John’s (AZ) are on the cusp of their first offers and at 6’4 200 and 6’5 200 respectively there’s a lot to like about both when watching them on film.

A few out-of-State quarterbacks are making the trip to Maricopa to compete and that list starts with “super sleeper” Jaxon Potter out of San Juan Capistrano (CA) JSerra. Potter has high level traits for the position and shows a knack for reading the field and delivering the ball accurately. He recently hit a growth spurt and now stands close to 6’5. Potter reports one offer but Miller feels he’s a high end QB prospect. Adarius Edwards from Heber (UT) Wasatch is a 6’2 dual threat that can put tons of pressure on a defense with his 4.6 speed and his big arm. Going back to the 2024 class 6’5 Austin Mack from Loomis (CA) Del Oro will be spinning it. He recently attended Showcase Football in NorCal and made the top performers list.

A couple of rising stars in the 2025 class will be in attendance looking to impress the coaches, scouts and media in JP Mialovski out of Las Vegas, Nevada and Kalen Fisher from nearby by Chandler, Arizona.

The quarterbacks will use this opportunity to earn a selection to Showcase Football the following day where the top 20 QBs will get the opportunity to lead an offense and attempt to execute versus a full, live defense, be electroincally tested and display their instincts, vision, mobility and arm talent in simulated game circumstances.
